Kwara State governor and chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has mourned the tragic death of top banker, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, and some members of his family in an air crash in the United States.
The governor similarly sent his heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, who died in the same crash.
AbdulRazaq, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye said the incident was a huge loss to not just the Nigerian business community but to the entire country and its people who would miss the immense impacts of the two businessmen.
He asked God to rest their souls and give comfort to their families and to the rest of the country at this difficult moment.
Wigwes’ Death, Colossal Losses To Rivers, Nigeria -APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has described as colossal losses to Nigeria and Rivers State the sudden death of the chief executive officer of Access Bank, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, and his wife and son, in a helicopter crash.
The party, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by the chairman, Caretaker Committee, Chief Tony Okocha, said it received the news of the sudden death of the trio with rude shock.
The statement reads in part: “The All Progressives Congress, Rivers State Chapter mourns heavily the passing of an illustrious son of the state, a top banker, and entrepreneur, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, who passed alongside his wife and son in a helicopter crash at the Nevada border in California.
The party described the tragedy as a rude shock and colossal losses to Rivers State, Nigeria, and the world at large, describing him as a renowned philanthropist who committed to community service and progress/development of Nigeria, Rivers State, Ikwerre ethnic nationality and Isiokpo kingdom.
