Education is the medium that gives us the skills, techniques, information and knowledge to learn, know and understands our duty to society, families and nation. Therefore, the magnitude of the importance of education in life is huge as well as multifaceted. Education helps us in discovering new ideas and exploring them.
Education helps a person to get knowledge and improve confidence in life. It can help you improve your career and your personal growth. An educated person can become a great citizen in society. The modern developed and industrialised world is running on the wheels of education. To be able to survive in the competitive world, we all need education as a torch that leads the way. This is what is in the mind of Honorable Abass Adigun, who is popularly known as Agboworin, the member representing Ibadan North East/South East in the House of Representatives. He has been a long time advocate of quality education.
Recently, he distributed educational materials worth millions of Naira to over 300 students from different primary and secondary schools in his constituency. Of course, it takes someone who is kind to the development of a society to do such in the present economic situation and trying time of the country. His good gesture is coming at the time most parents cannot afford to feed their wards not to talk of buying them educational materials.
It is no doubt Hon. Abass Agboworin has been putting smiles on crestfallen faces of his constituents through reaching out by either via stomach infrastructure, wealth creation or unusual solace to the plebs.
His inclusivity, responsiveness and good representation has changed the narrative of the federal constituency in all ramifications in area of health, education, social amenities and many more.
Agboworin’s educational agenda is in tandem with the vision of Oyo State government led by H.E Engr Seyi Makinde, in a bid to provide good, free, qualitative and quantitative education for all and sundry. This has given birth to the recent massive distribution of educational materials to the downtrodden in primary and secondary schools making up the federal constituency. This is a big alleviation and succour as the parents are trying to make ends meet for their wards regarding foods.
The event, which took place in Lagelu Grammar School, had students from schools in both Ibadan Northeast and Ibadan Southeast local governments benefit from the largesse a went back home smiling. The materials include thousands of exerxise books, school bags, government-approved textbooks, etc.
At the event, notable government functionaries made their presence available and gave their words of commendation in testament to Agboworin’s significant contribution towards education. They all showered encomiums on his gesture and encouraged him not to relent. Other political party leaders, who also witnessed the significant display expressed gratitude in turns, testifying to the Rep member’s humanitarian clout. They prayed for him never to go down and for God to keep using him for the people of the constituency.
You will also recall that Agboworin sponsors free extra moral classes for students in his constituency, a programme which he has started since 2019. He gives out free JAMB forms to students. He has facilitated the building of a 6 blocks of classroom at Nuru-Islamiyat Grammar school in Ibadan South East LG and 3 blocks of classroom at Yanbule St’ Paul Anglican Primary School in Ibadan North-East LG, among many achievements in the education sector, which are worthy of commendation.
With the level of passion Honorable Abass Adigun Agboworin has for educational development, it has clearly shown that he deliberately wants a better future for the children of common man and all his actions are worthy of emulation.
I am, however, using this medium to implore other political office holders to emulate the steps of Honorable Abass Adigun Agboworin in contributing meaningfully to the development of citizens.
