Southwest Derby: NPFL Tasks 3SC, Remo Stars Management on Hitch Free Match
In the bid to ensure a hitch fee match, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has urged the management of both Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and Remo Stars FC of Ikenne to ensure utmost restraint on their fans.
The NPFL, in a letter titled ‘ Designation of Matchday 26 in Ibadan as High Risk, dated 15th March, which was signed by the the body’s Chief Operating Officer (CEO), Davison Owumi, said the move was necessary to curb any form of violence before, during and after the match.
“With an eye on the history of rivalry between your clubs, we have considered it the right step to call for utmost restraint on your fans”, the letter addressed to the Chairmen/General Managers of the clubs stated.
The league organising body, urged Remo Stars to orientate their travelling fans on the need to conduct themselves in an orderly and Sporting manner, while it stated that 3SC, as the host, have more responsibility to ensure adequate and effective security before, during and after the match, with an appeal, through the use of public address system, to fans of both clubs to adopt friendly disposition towards each other.
To ensure strict compliance, the NPFL said it staff will be on hand to assist and monitor situations for a peaceful atmosphere.
It will be recalled that the leadership of the Supporters Club of the two teams met before the start of the season, where they agreed to ensure that peace reigns during any te between the two sides.
Remo Stars’ Supporters were on ground to support Shooting Stars in their 2-1 win over Plateau United on Matchday 1, while the 3Szc Supporters were also on ground to root for the Sky Blue Stars during their continental engagement in Ikenne
The Matchday 26 fixture will hold on Sunday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, with kick off time fixed for 5.30pm.
