LG Election: Ogbomoso North PDP Chairmanship candidate, Ogunlade receives party flag, thanks Gov. Makinde, others
The leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, on Thursday, presented the party flag to its Ogbomoso North chairmanship candidate, Hon. George Ogunlade and other chairmanship candidates ahead of the 2024 local government elections.
During the presentation ceremony held at Oja Igbo town hall in Ogbomoso North, the Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, reiterated the overwhelming support the PDP enjoys throughout the state.
He assured that the good people of Ogbomoso will turn out in large numbers on election day to cast their votes for all PDP candidates as they represent the interests of the people.
Ogunwuyi, who hinted that the party is committed to a free and fair election process, however said that their candidates have been moving from wards to wards to seek for votes.
He added that the party believes in democratic process over rigging, urging the good people of Ogbomoso North, South, Orire, Ogooluwa, and Surulere local governments to actively participate in the forthcoming local government election.
In their separate remarks, Dr. Saka Balogun, the chairman of the Elders Council to Governor Makinde, and Baba Johnson Bankole, the chieftain of the party from Orire local government, urged the people of Ogbomoso zone to repeat the bloc votes they cast for Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2023 governorship election.
They emphasized how important it is for party leaders and members to come together, saying that victory is guaranteed and that the zone will continue to witness unprecedented development.
Speaking to journalists after receiving the PDP flag, Hon. George Ogunlade, the chairmanship candidate for Ogbomoso North, stated that the party had resolutely demonstrated that, under Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership, it could administer itself and govern the nation.
While expressing his gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve, Ogunlade noted that with the numerous achievements of Makinde’s administration in the state, the party had many projects to campaign with.
He equally thanked the party for the opportunity to have him and his colleagues as its flag bearers and assured that victory would be secured for all candidates on April 27.
“For having me and my colleagues as the party flag bearers, I must sincerely express my profound gratitude to His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, as well as the party stakeholders, leaders, and members.
“Everyone’s support is just incredible. I am grateful for everyone’s prayers for the project’s success and can sense the love. I promise not to betray the confidence you have in me.
“We are confident of victory. And if elected, I would complement the efforts of Governor Makinde in providing good governance,” Ogunlade stated.
