BASA CELEBRATES WORLD DAY OF THE BOY CHILD, EMPHASIZES IMPORTANCE OF NURTURING FUTURE LEADERS

Honourable Bolanle Aminat Sarumi, affectionately known as BASA, joins the global community in celebrating the World Day of the Boy Child, a day dedicated to highlighting the unique challenges faced by boys and advocating for their well-being and development.

In her message, BASA emphasizes the importance of recognizing the distinct needs of boys in society and ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive. She states, “Today, we celebrate the potential and promise of every boy child. It is our collective responsibility to create an environment where boys can grow up feeling valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their dreams.”

BASA underscores the significance of quality education and the role of mentors in shaping the lives of young boys. “Education is the foundation upon which a brighter future is built. We must ensure that every boy has access to quality education and positive role models who can guide and inspire them.” Also, addressing the often-overlooked aspect of boys’ mental health, she calls for greater attention to their emotional needs. “We must break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage our boys to express their feelings and seek help when needed. A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body.”

The need for safe and supportive environments and empowerment through skills development where boys can grow and develop without fear of violence or discrimination , and develop practical skills and have opportunities for personal growth respectively are other areas of importance in developing the boy child BASA opined.

She concludes her message with a call to action, urging all stakeholders, including parents, educators, policymakers, and community leaders, to unite in support of boys’ development. “Let us commit to nurturing our boys, providing them with the love, support, and opportunities they need to become the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we can build a brighter future for all.”
