How we stopped bed wetting, Netizens speak

There was this post on one social media platform some time ago which questioned why the only dream that comes true is when you end up wetting your bed after dreaming of urinating. Hahahaha!

In those early days, some of us woke up to find ourselves in the pool of our own pee. It was confusing because that happened after dreaming of peeing on cocoyam leaves, by the road side, in the latrine, etc.

I can’t tell what made ‘Aproko Doctor’ bring up this issue of bed wetting but it cracked people up reading how some people overcame bed wetting.

 Dr Chinonso Egemba on his official X handle ‘@aproko_doctor’, asked, “How did your parents help you overcome bed wetting?”

Netizens who responded to his question shared diverse methods that their parents employed to get them to stop bed wetting.

Dr Chioma Nwakanma replied, “Sometimes when I sit to pee at night, I still pinch myself to make sure it’s all real before I release, cos that’s how our village people used to trick us into bed wetting back in the day and my mother will put on her whole armour of African motherhood to #EndBedWetting.”

Sally Suleiman@is_sa shared a post he thought would be helpful. “I bed-wetted until I was about 10-12 years old. It was really embarrassing. Each time I woke up, I was embarrassed and scared of how my dad would shout.”

Olasunkanmi Ajibol said, “She would regularly wake me to go and urinate, my body got used to it at a point.”

@IjeleWills wrote, “In my mother’s house, supper is served not later than 7pm. By 8 pm we were done drinking water and made to pee at least twice before bed at 9 pm. Afterward, she would wake us between sleep to pee again, twice; until we overcame bed wetting.”

 @Mc_Whyte said, “My mom promised to carry my bed to school and have them call an emergency assembly to announce that I bed wetted. I stopped at age 7 or 8.”

Mazi.Com, “They called a masquerade for my cousin, the boy cried that day until there were no tears to shed. The bed wetting stopped that day.”

@thatpoetcl said, “Dem just allow. Last, last shame catch me.”

This Sunflower is GLOWry wrote, “I just remembered what happened to one “brother Kola” when I was small. His mother called all the children in the compound, gave them cane and told them to flog him so that he won’t bed wet again.”

@Kinq_Classic wept, “Flogging”

@Bambimbee replied, “Na disgrace for school oo.”

@ijayy_28 wrote, “Ahhh my mother! Dat woman solved it for me, she stopped my late-night eating and made sure I peed twice before she sleeps (ps: she sleeps late) then woke me up early in the morning to pee (like about 4/5). It’s funny but I always felt pressed to urinate at those times.”
