Oyo Government Begins Verification Exercise for Selected Participants on Youth Empowerment Drive

The Oyo State Government has commenced verification exercise for selected participants for the Youth Empowerment Drive, an initiative of Governor Seyi Makinde Adminstration. The exercise will take place on Saturday at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Secretariat Ibadan, this is aimed at verifying the credentials and eligibility of the selected participants.

According to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ms. Wasilat Adegoke, the verification exercise is a crucial step in the empowerment program, which is designed to equip young people in the state with skills and resources to become self-sufficient and contribute positively to the society.

“The verification exercise is to ensure that only eligible and qualified candidates participate in the program,” Ms. Adegoke explained. “We want to make sure that the benefits of this program are targeted at those who need it most, and that the resources are utilized effectively.”

The verification exercise will involve the confirmation of participants’ identity, age, and educational qualifications, as well as their residency in Oyo State. Only participants who meet the eligibility criteria will be cleared to participate in the program.

The Omituntun 2.0 Enterprises Skill Development Programme is part of the youth empowerment drive of Governor Makinde’s administration for the year 2024 as this is part of the state government’s efforts to address youth unemployment and restiveness in the state. The program will provide training and mentorship in various skills, including entrepreneurship and technology, as well as access to funding and other resources.

The verification exercise is expected to start with Ibadan/Ibarapa participants, after which the selected participants will be inducted into the program. The program is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the participants and the state as a whole. The verification exercise will commence by 9am.

This will follow by Oke-Ogun , Oyo and Ogbomoso Zone and the ministry will released the schedule time for other zones soon.
