Hon. Abdul Malik Zubairu Bungudu, a member of the federal House of Representatives in Zamfara State, has officiated the mass wedding of 105 couples in his constituency.
The brides, primarily daughters of victims of banditry, were provided with essential household items including beds, mattresses, wardrobes, bed sheets, pillows, and other home necessities, all sponsored by the lawmaker representing the Bungudu/Maru federal constituency.
The event, which took place on Saturday in Bungudu Town, featured the payment of a one hundred thousand naira dowry for each bride. During the ceremony, Hon. Abdul Malik Zubairu expressed his fulfillment in sponsoring the weddings, highlighting the support extended to families affected by banditry.
“Alhamdulillah, today, Saturday, I am fulfilling one of my promises by sponsoring 105 brides for marriage to their suitors. Most of the brides’ parents were killed as a result of banditry in the state,” he said.
In addition to paying the dowry, each groom received one hundred thousand naira, while each bride was given fifty thousand naira to start a business.
Hon. Kawu Sumaila, the chairman of the occasion, praised the lawmaker for his compassionate gesture towards the victims of banditry in his constituency. He urged the constituents to appreciate and pray for Hon. Abdul Malik Zubairu’s good and effective representation.
Hon. Sumaila advised the newly married couples to be patient with each other, emphasizing that marriage is part of Ibadat (faith). He also personally donated twenty thousand naira to each couple as part of his assistance during the mass wedding.
