A viral video surfaced yesterday showing Folashade Tinubu, daughter of President Bola Tinubu, warning market women in Lagos to dissuade their children from participating in the upcoming August 1st protest against bad governance and hunger.
In response, social media activist, Very Dark Man (VDM), took to his social media platforms to reply to Folashade Tinubu, saying, “Please tell your father that Nigerians are hungry! The same people you’re warning not to protest are the ones struggling to make ends meet due to his administration’s policies.”
VDM’s reply has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing their frustration with the current state of the economy and governance.
The August 1st protest, aims to draw attention to the country’s economic woes, including rising food prices, unemployment, and fuel scarcity.
Folashade Tinubu’s warning to market women has been perceived by many as an attempt to intimidate and silence dissenting voices.
VDM’s response has emboldened others to speak out, with the hashtag #NigeriansAreHungry trending on Twitter.
The protest is seems going to go ahead as planned, despite warnings from the authorities.
