In a thrilling display of strength, strategy, and sportsmanship, law enforcement agencies in Oyo State gathered for a Tug of War competition, hosted by the state government under the visionary leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The event, held at the House of Assembly in Ibadan, brought together teams from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Oyo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun.
Addressing the participants, Governor Makinde represented at the event by the commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke emphasized the importance of unity and teamwork among law enforcement agencies. “As we celebrate Nigeria’s 64 years of independence, we recognize the vital role our security forces play in ensuring our safety and well-being. This competition fosters esprit de corps, promoting collaboration and camaraderie among our brave men and women in uniform.”
The competition was marked by intense rivalry, with each team demonstrating remarkable strength, tactics, and determination. In the end, the Nigerian Army emerged victorious, closely followed by the Nigeria Police Force.
Governor Makinde commended the participating teams for their display of sportsmanship and teamwork. “Your dedication to our nation’s security and unity is inspiring. This event reinforces our commitment to promoting national cohesion and celebrating our progress.”
