A Heartfelt Birthday Thanksgiving – From Your BASA
Today, I lift my voice in gratitude to the Almighty God for the gift of life. He has been my rock, my guide, and my sustainer. Serving God is the greatest decision one can make—once you have Him, you are sorted!
My life is a testament to His divine plan. In 1978, my mother had my older sister in February, and just three months later, she received the marvelous news that she was pregnant again—this time with me. Against all odds, your BASA was born in March 1979, a child destined for impact.
At the age of seven, I faced what could have been my final moment. Playfully pushed into the deep end of the Premier Hotel swimming pool in Ibadan by my little brother, I struggled, believing my time had come. But God had a greater purpose for me. My older brother realized I was gone, dived in, and saved me. That day, God reminded me that I was not just here to exist—I was here to make a difference.
Every day, I pray for the grace to fulfill my destiny. When my time comes to leave this world and return to my Creator, may I do so knowing I have made a lasting impact. That is my daily prayer.
To my loving family, my wonderful children, my dear friends—both personal and political—I am grateful for each of you. There are no coincidences in life. God has joined our paths for a reason, and I know it is for a purpose far greater than we can imagine.
I am thankful for today. I am thankful for life. I am thankful for God’s unfailing love.
