Pastor Odekunle Epaphras Urges Churches to Prioritize Choirs Over Guest Song Ministers
In a thought-provoking message to church leaders, Pastor Odekunle Epaphras has emphasized the importance of valuing and supporting church choirs over spending large sums on invited song ministers. According to him, while guest gospel artists may attract large congregations for a single service, their presence does not guarantee lasting church growth.
Pastor Odekunle noted that many churches invest millions of naira in bringing renowned song ministers for a short performance, often lasting no more than thirty minutes. These ministers, he pointed out, do not stay beyond their ministration, nor do they engage in essential spiritual activities such as altar calls. Once their performance ends, they depart, leaving the congregation without deeper engagement.
Instead of relying on external ministers for temporary excitement, Pastor Odekunle urged pastors to recognize and appreciate their church choirs, who consistently dedicate their time and effort to uplifting worship services. He advised church leaders to show appreciation by applauding them, buying them new clothes, organizing picnics, and even hosting feasts in their honor.
He further stressed that church choirs play a crucial role in maintaining the spiritual atmosphere of the church. They attend rehearsals regularly, lead worship in all services, and contribute to the overall structure and success of church programs.
