Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju, a former National and West African light-heavyweight boxing champion from Nigeria, died on Saturday after collapsing during a match in Ghana.
The incident occurred at Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League, held at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, where Olanrewaju was competing against Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu.
Reports indicate that Olanrewaju, who was ahead on points, lost consciousness during the bout.
A video circulating on social media captured the moment he collapsed in the ring. Despite efforts to revive him, the 40-year-old was pronounced dead, marking a tragic end to his professional career, which included 24 fights, 13 wins, 8 losses, and 3 draws.
