Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has officially handed over vehicles to the chairman and other executives of the State Revenue Service to augment operational efficiency.
The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday at Government House in Minna, the state capital.
Speaking during the ceremony, Bago emphasised that the provision of the vehicles was both a reward and incentive, acknowledging the service’s extraordinary feat of surpassing its annual revenue target by generating over ₦100 billion, an achievement worthy of accolade.
Expressing profound satisfaction, the governor revealed that the revenue service now possesses fiscal autonomy, including the authority to manage salary disbursement and remittance to the State treasury.
He further challenged the agency to innovate and broaden its fiscal strategies to increase revenue inflow exponentially.
In response, Chairman Alhaji Muhammad Etsu lauded the governor’s continuous patronage, attributing the board’s achievement to the uncompromising institutional backing from the current administration led by the governor.
He stated that the service now operates with financial independence and that the newly acquired vehicles will act as a catalyst for further revenue enhancement.
Etsu expressed confidence in the service’s capacity to grow the state’s fiscal intake exponentially, citing the ongoing industrialization and influx of investment as critical enablers of sustainable revenue expansion.
