
In a bold stride toward promoting grassroots sports and educational development, the Member Representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr) Dawood Olalere D-Al-Ameen, has officially launched the 2025 edition of his annual football competition.

Organized in conjunction with the Ibadan NorthWest Local Government Education Secretary and the National Association of Primary and Grammar School Teachers (NAPGAST), the initiative underscores the lawmaker’s unwavering commitment to school sports and talent development among young students.

Preliminary matches for the much-anticipated tournament are already underway, drawing participation from various primary and secondary schools across the constituency.

The official kickoff ceremony is scheduled for June 11, 2025, a symbolic date that also marks the second anniversary of Hon. D-Al-Ameen’s tenure in the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Speaking about the competition, Hon. D-Al-Ameen emphasized the importance of early sports engagement in shaping the lives of young people. “School sports are not just about physical activity—they are platforms for discovering potential, instilling discipline, and building the next generation of leaders and athletes,” he said.
The Education Secretary of Ibadan NorthWest also lauded the initiative, stating that it aligns with the state’s vision of integrating education with extracurricular excellence.
