
Akintola Zone has emerged winner of the maiden edition of D-Al-Ameen Primary school football Competition in conjunction with Ibadan North West Education Secretary, Mr Kehinde Ayoade.

The match, held at Anwarul Islam Grammar School Eleyele School field Ibadan, saw Akintola Zone edged Eleyele Zone, 4-2 in a nail-biting penalty victory.

Also, Army Zone came third defeating Idikan Zone 3-1 in a penalty shootout.

Speaking in a post-match interview, two coaches from Akintola and Eleyele zones, Mr Kehinde Oladepo and Mrs Folashade Hawudu described the competition has a lauded initiative in discovering young talents.
Mr Oladepo and Mrs Hawudu also noted that regular grassroots sporting activities especially in schools should be promoted.
On his part, Honourable Member representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency, Dawood Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, who is the organiser of the football Competition, said the essence of the event was to develop the talents of younger ones, especially in the area of football.
Honourable Olalere said the competition is one of the greatest achievements of his constituency.
He also appealed to parents to always support their children’s talents.
Highlight of the event include presentation of medals and trophy to the winner of the competition.
