Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Dawood Akanni Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, has expressed deep sympathy for victims of a building collapse in the Inalende area of Ibadan.
The lawmaker, upon receiving the news of the tragic incident, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and those who suffered personal losses as a result of the collapsed structure. Describing the occurrence as deeply unfortunate, he emphasized the need for collective action to address critical environmental and infrastructural issues in the state.
Hon. Olalere reassured his constituents of his commitment to work closely with relevant government agencies to prevent similar incidents in the future. He urged residents to utilize the state emergency helpline (615) in situations of danger or structural concerns, highlighting the importance of timely reporting.
As part of his immediate intervention, Dr. Olalere donated cash relief to victims receiving treatment in the hospital and prayed for the repose of the souls lost in the incident, asking Almighty Allah to grant them eternal rest.
Meanwhile, community leaders who were present at the scene of the collapse also voiced their concerns. Alhaji Alifa Ajeigbe cautioned residents against excessive alcohol consumption, revealing that some of the injured had reportedly been intoxicated at the time of the incident. He lamented the role ignorance often plays in such avoidable tragedies.
In the same vein, the Community Development Association (CDA) Chairman, Comrade Tiri Aloko, criticized the lack of parental supervision, questioning why some children were out at a party as late as 3 a.m. He called on parents to be more vigilant and responsible in safeguarding their wards.
Both community leaders commended Hon. Olalere for his swift response and generosity toward the affected families. They offered prayers for his continued protection and success.
