Hon. Wasiu Nurudeen “Obaaro” Mobilizes Persons with Disabilities for Crucial Political Engagement in Ibadan North Today

In a move to promote inclusivity and political awareness among persons living with disabilities (PWDs), Hon. Wasiu Nurudeen, popularly known as Obaaro, has extended an open invitation to all PWDs residing in Ibadan North Local Government Area to attend a crucial meeting scheduled for today, Friday, June 11, 2025.

The meeting, according to Hon. Wasiu, is aimed at fostering inclusive political participation, especially ahead of the forthcoming bye-election in the constituency. It is expected to bring together individuals who are deaf, dumb, blind, physically challenged, and others with varying forms of disabilities.

Speaking with journalists ahead of the gathering, Hon. Obaaro emphasized the significance of ensuring that people living with disabilities are not left behind in political mobilization and party activities. He also noted that the meeting would serve as a platform to reaffirm support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the bye-election, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON).

“Disability is not inability. The vote of a person with disability carries the same weight as that of any other citizen. This meeting is not only to strategize for the coming election but to also clamour for better recognition and treatment of our members who have remained loyal to the party,” Obaaro stated.

He stressed the importance of unity among PWDs in Ibadan North and the need to assert their voices in the democratic process, especially as stakeholders in the PDP’s success.

The meeting is scheduled to hold at Ibadan North Local Government PDP Secretariat by 2:00 PM today, with several key issues on the agenda beyond the bye-election, including welfare, representation, and greater inclusion in party structures.

Hon. Wasiu concluded by urging all persons living with disabilities in the local government area to turn out in large numbers, stressing that “together, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate political environment where every voice matters.”
