In a remarkable demonstration of solidarity and political engagement, the Persons With Disabilities (PWD) community in Ibadan North organized a vibrant rally in support of Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the upcoming August 16 bye-election.
The rally served not only as an endorsement of Hon. Oyekunle’s candidacy but also as a public declaration of the PWD community’s confidence in his leadership, vision, and dedication to inclusive governance. According to participants, Hon. DON has consistently shown a genuine commitment to the needs and rights of marginalized groups, particularly persons living with disabilities.

During the event, the PWD community expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his administration’s trailblazing efforts in promoting inclusive governance across Oyo State. Governor Makinde’s unwavering support has empowered persons with disabilities to take active roles in public discourse and political processes.

Special appreciation was also extended to key government officials whose support continues to strengthen the PWD advocacy within the state:

- Hon. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, Member representing Ibadan North Constituency I
- Barr. Ayodele Adekanbi, Director-General, Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities
- Hon. Timothy Olufemi Sunday, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Disability Matters
- Hon. Ibikunle, Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Faith Affairs
- Mr Lateef Lawal, Vice principal
Their collective efforts, the community noted, have reinforced the sense of inclusion and inspired a renewed commitment to active participation in the political and developmental journey of Oyo State.
