Following the Abuja airport drama involving popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM1) and ValueJet airline crew, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is set to blacklist the Fuji star from flying in Nigeria for six months.
Tribune Online reports that the NCAA, in a statement on Wednesday, announced the suspension of ValueJet pilots for safety violations following a controversy involving KWAM 1 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja over a liquid drink suspected to be alcohol.
Both the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and ValueJet have also reacted to the incident, with FAAN in its preliminary investigation revealing that KWAM 1’s unruly conduct at the airport led to the drama.
However, Tribune Online reports that the Fuji star has denied the claims of alcohol in his flask and unruly conduct at the airport.
But Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, during a press briefing on Thursday, announced that the Authority will blacklist KWAM 1 for six months.
He said, “What I must assure the general public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book.
“As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months flying in Nigeria.
“Aviation rules are made for everybody, for the protection of everybody. These rules are global. There is nothing about the rules that is to antagonise any passenger.
“So, we will do everything we can to get to the root of it. Everybody who needs to be punished or sanctioned will receive justice.”
The NCAA, he added, has written to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to initiate legal proceedings against Wasiu Ayinde.
Responding to question on whether the artiste will be prosecuted given his closeness to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the aviation minister, Festus Keyamo, the NCAA director said the authority is committed to the rule of law, adding that no individual is exempted from due process.
