Human rights activist and United Kingdom-trained lawyer, Chief Niyi Aborisade, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is heading for an overwhelming victory in the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the Niyi Aborisade Media Office, the 2027 Oyo State governorship aspirant publicly endorsed the PDP candidate, Hon. Fola Oyekunle, predicting an emphatic win at the polls.
“I am endorsing Hon. Fola Oyekunle of the PDP to win the election in Ibadan North. We are coasting home to victory. We are unstoppable,” Aborisade said.
He attributed his confidence to Oyekunle’s early and robust campaign, the solid backing of PDP leaders, and the party’s entrenched political structure in Oyo State.
“All the PDP structures and machinery are behind him. PDP bigwigs are solidly in support. Oyo State is impregnable for any other party,” he asserted.
Aborisade dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a fractured force in Oyo, citing internal divisions, a lack of visible campaign activity, and the absence of key party figures in the buildup to the election.
“The APC in Oyo State has collapsed. The party is divided and fragmented. Unity of purpose is far from them. This is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. The APC candidate in Ibadan North is not popular and did not receive the blessings of the party elders,” he said.
The Ibadan North bye-election is expected to be a major test of political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections, with PDP strategists expressing optimism and APC grappling with internal challenges.
