Pastor Tolu Odukoya Opens Up on Why Her Marriage Ended
Pastor Toluwani Odukoya, daughter of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya of The Fountain of Life Church, has revealed reasons behind the end of her marriage to Olumide Ijogun, stating that their separation was due to circumstances beyond their control.
Speaking candidly in an interview, Pastor Tolu explained that while both she and her ex-husband were “good people,” they were ultimately not compatible as life partners. “Sometimes, they’re good people, but they’re just not good for you,” she said, emphasizing that incompatibility, rather than wrongdoing, led to their parting.
The couple, who got married in 2012, share three children — two daughters and a son.
Reflecting on the difficult period, Pastor Tolu described how between 2021 and 2023, she faced multiple personal losses — the end of her marriage, the passing of her stepmother, her father’s twin sister, and later, her father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya. She recounted how these experiences tested her faith but also strengthened her spiritual journey.
Despite the emotional toll, she accepted her pastoral calling, saying she chose to trust God even when she didn’t feel fully ready. “When God called me, I didn’t have everything together, but I chose to trust Him,” she said.
Following her father’s death, Pastor Tolu and her brother, actor Jimmy Odukoya, assumed leadership of The Fountain of Life Church, with Jimmy serving as the Senior Pastor and Tolu as the Associate Senior Pastor.
Pastor Tolu’s openness about her personal struggles and faith journey has since sparked widespread conversations about resilience, faith, and emotional healing within the Christian community.
