The Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI), has called on political actors and citizens to cease actions it described as distractions to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and instead focus on contributing to national development.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Kunle Yusuff, MON, the group urged politicians and the general public to prioritise the nation’s interest over personal or political agendas.
The organisation acknowledged the importance of constructive criticism but cautioned against what it described as “malicious intent and selfish interests’ that could derail the country’s progress.
“We call on desperate and furious politicians to cease their attempts to derail the President’s efforts and instead join hands in building a better Nigeria,” the statement read.
The CSCHEI also appealed to Nigerians to avoid spreading misinformation and urged stakeholders to engage with government policies through constructive suggestions that align with the administration’s goals, including the “Hope Agenda.”
The organisation, however, encouraged civil society and community-based organisations to continue adopting fact-based advocacy approaches and to design programs that directly benefit the populace.
It also called on the federal government to implement stronger monitoring and evaluation systems for assessing the performance of cabinet members.
According to the group, such systems would help identify any ministers with overt political ambitions for the 2027 elections and ensure they remain focused on their responsibilities.
It suggested that those found prioritising political interests over governance should face consequences, including possible removal from office.
The CSCHEI, which described itself as a coordinating platform for accredited CSOs and CBOs, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance while acting as a bridge between citizens and the government.
