A Nigerian United Kingdom-Based Analyst, Akolade Ismahil Bello has described Mogaji Abass Oloko as a significant and influential figure in Ibadan politics, stating that his impact on the city’s political landscape cannot be overlooked.
In a statement, Bello emphasised Oloko’s deep-rooted influence, linking it to his political grooming and experience under the Molete School of Politics, a notable ideological and political training ground in Oyo State.
“Like him or hate him, when it comes to Ibadan politics, Mogaji Abass Oloko is a big factor. He graduated from the Molete School of Politics and has remained a consistent voice and presence. He is the salt of Ibadan politics, just can’t do without him,” he said.
Bello further noted that Mogaji Oloko’s political relevance has remained steady over the years, pointing to his ability to navigate shifting alliances while maintaining grassroots support.
“His political strength lies not just in influence but in understanding the people and speaking their language. That’s what makes him stand out,” Bello added.
According to him, Mogaji Abass Oloko, a traditional titleholder in Ibadanland, has been active in local and state-level politics for several years and is known for his grassroots mobilisation and strong ties to key political structures in the city.
He noted that observers continued to view Oloko’s relevance as a reflection of his strategic positioning and the enduring influence of traditional political schools like Molete in shaping political actors in southwestern Nigeria.
