Oyo Lawmaker, Dr. D-Al-Ameen Receives CAN Ibadan NorthWest Executives, Reiterates Commitment to Youth Empowerment

The Member representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Dawood Akanni Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, has expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ibadan NorthWest Chapter, for their visit and commendation of his service to humanity.

The lawmaker received the CAN delegation, led by the Vice Chairman, Prophet (Dr.) B.A. Opakunmi, in his office at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Speaking during the visit, Prophet Opakunmi, who represents Area 2 of CAN, commended Hon. D-Al-Ameen for his continuous support to the Association and his commitment to improving the lives of the youth and the less privileged.

“You have contributed massively to the growth and development of our constituency, helping many to become useful members of society. Your humility and sense of purpose have endeared you to many within and beyond your constituency,” Prophet Opakunmi stated.

He also congratulated the lawmaker on his recent installation as the Aare Musulumi of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, praying for divine strength and wisdom to continue his good works.

In his remarks, Evangelist Moses Sobowale, the Area 5 Coordinator of CAN, discussed an upcoming Co-operative Investment Project aimed at empowering youths and addressing the socio-economic challenges facing many in society.

Responding, Hon. D-Al-Ameen appreciated the Association’s leadership for the visit, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration on community development and youth-focused initiatives. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting their proposed Co-operative Investment Project, noting that such ventures help reduce poverty and promote self-reliance.

He further urged religious leaders to emphasize discipline, hard work, and moral uprightness in their teachings, cautioning that excessive focus on prosperity messages has negatively influenced many youths.

“Preaching of prosperity should be reduced because it has misled many youths in their search for quick success through negative means,” he advised.

The Secretary of CAN, Mrs. B.Y. Ayodele, in his vote of thanks, described Hon. D-Al-Ameen as “a refreshing example of purposeful leadership,” praising his humility, professionalism, and track record of impactful service.
