
The Ministry of Youth and Sports under Oyo State Government welcomes the Nigerian Under-20 women’s national football team, the Falconets, to the capital city of Ibadan as they prepare to take on Senegal in a FIFA World Cup qualifier match at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Saturday, 7th February 2026.
In her welcoming address, the Director of Sports Development, Mrs Adegoke who received the team on behalf of Honourable Wasilat Adegoke assured the team of the Oyo State Government’s readiness to support them in their quest for victory.
This upcoming match is expected not only to showcase the team’s skills but also to bring economic value to Oyo State, highlighting the strength and passion of the Oyo people, particularly the Oyo Female Football Team, Pacesetter Queen.

As part of the preparations, the Oyo State Government has announced that there will be no gate fee for the match, demonstrating its commitment to promoting sports development and encouraging youth participation in the state.

Mrs Adegoke stated that Governor Seyi Makinde’s dedication to youth empowerment and sports development is evident in his initiatives aimed at promoting unity, healthy living, and economic growth through sports.


His leadership has been instrumental in fostering a supportive environment for young people in Oyo State to thrive. With the state government’s backing, the Falconets are poised to make a strong impression in the FIFA World Cup qualifier.
