Ibadan — The lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency, Honorable Akintunde Olajide, has described Honorable Temitope Olatoye, fondly known as Honorable Sugar, as a mentor he holds in very high esteem.
Hon. Olajide made this remark at the official commissioning of the newly constructed Lagelu Local Government Legislative Building, an event which also featured the conferment of Awards of Excellence on notable personalities.
Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Akintunde Olajide, popularly called Hon. AKT, was invited to present an Award of Excellence to the family of Honorable Temitope Olatoye. In his address, Hon. AKT openly acknowledged Honorable Sugar as his mentor and political boss, noting that his journey to public office was largely shaped by the guidance and support he received from him.
“I hold Honorable Sugar in high esteem. He is my mentor and my boss. I have gotten to the position I am today because I passed through him. I dare not take anything pertaining to him with levity,” Hon. AKT said.
He emphasized that Honorable Sugar’s leadership style and political tutelage had played a significant role in his personal and political development, adding that such mentorship deserves honour and recognition.
Following his remarks, Hon. AKT formally presented the Award of Excellence to the Olatoye family and proceeded to a photo session with family members present at the event.
The commissioning ceremony attracted dignitaries, political stakeholders, and residents of Lagelu Local Government, marking a significant milestone in the area’s legislative and democratic development.
