AKK is a gubernatorial Aspirant in Oyo State in 2027.
It is an eternal truth that nation-building is a collective effort that requires the active participation of every citizen to achieve a bright and progressive nation. I usually involve getting extensively interested in what can make life better and great for the citizens. The youth, in particular, play a crucial role in nation-building, as they are the future leaders and drivers of change. We can create a cohesive society that benefits all when everyone comes together to contribute their unique skills, talents, and perspectives, – we can also address the complex challenges facing our nation and birth the cause of a worthy future for generations to come.
I recently had the honour of featuring interview on Impact TV’s program, Ajoro, hosted by Tunji Adeyefa and Sola Fadiran. This opportunity allowed me to share my thoughts on various national issues and concerns, and I was humbled by the experience. Engaging more directly with the public through the media is essential for building consciousness and awareness on critical issues affecting our nation and state. I believe that open communication and dialogue are vital for encouraging a communal spirit and promoting collective progress.
On the programme, I meticulously argued that the trajectory of Nigeria’s political governance has been marred by numerous challenges and controversies. While some argue that the military and various civilian leaderships that we’ve had have contributed significantly to the country’s woes, I also believe that our current issues outweigh those of the past, and it is time for us to come together and develop people-centric solutions to address our nation’s challenges.
During my outing on Ajoro, I emphasised the importance of education in nation building. I noted that a comparison of our education sector to what plays out in developed nations like Australia and others, our education sector requires robust monitoring, motivation, and incentives to produce quality outcomes. Drawing from our past experiences during the years of regional government, I highlighted the need for a well-structured education system that encourages students and teachers to excel. Furthermore, I stressed the importance of having quality, God-fearing and conscious leaders who are willing to lead by example, shun greed, and promote good governance. This is why I believe it is essential for individuals like myself to participate in politics and contribute to retooling our state’s affairs.
The interview also provided an opportunity for me to share my thoughts on various national topics and policies. I expressed my support for the Tax Reform Bill and urged the federal government to take a more serious approach to addressing the concerns of all stakeholders, especially from the North. I emphasised the need for collective progress and the importance of confronting bad governance at all levels, especially at the subnationals. We cannot pretend things are right. As well, I highlighted the role of traditional institutions and leaders in driving local change and promoting responsible citizenship, – we need everyone on board to birth the nation of our dreams.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have shared my thoughts on Ajoro and appreciated the follow-up questions and comments that demonstrated the audience’s understanding and agreement with my views. I am eager to participate in more programs like this, where I can share my sentiments on national issues and outline my vision for a prosperous Oyo state. I trust that this open and honest dialogue can engineer the ideal thinking and mindset to rework many of our concerns and vision for Oyo state and Nigeria.
