A devastating gas explosion occurred at the Nobet filling station on Airforce Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
The incident resulted in over 10 vehicles being burnt beyond repair, and a nearby worship center was also affected by the massive blast.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was suspected to have been triggered by fabrication and civil works being carried out near the gas plant, where a gas tank was buried underground.

The pump attendant suffered severe fire wounds and was hospitalized.

Eyewitnesses said the timely intervention of the Federal Fire Service and other private bodies helped quench the fire, preventing further devastation.

The event happened today at noon.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of gas storage facilities and the need for stricter regulations.
Eyewitnesses praised the prompt response of the firefighters, saying that without their intervention, the level of devastation would have been much worse.
