Towards 2024 Bountiful Farming Season: National Agric Cluster Representatives in Oyo State Paid Courtesy Visit To Oyo State Speaker.
It was enthusiastic and morale booster meeting Mr. Speaker and few Principal Officers of the 10th Assembly to report our “1st South West and Neighbouring States Agric Mechanization Summit 2024” Themed “Solutions to Mechanized Farming, Commercial Storage, Food Processing and Exportation” held on February 21st at Abuja.
Though the Summit was initially meant to target “South West and Neighbouring States” because of the security and safety issues of the farmers but after the Summit there were superior arguments that diverted the focus on the entire nations as the level of Food Insecurity is now so alarming and now a National issue that needs urgent attention.
Succinctly after the Summit, we started working on Farmers that has over 30 Acres of farm land from each state’s that we can cluster together to see how to contribute our quota. Almost a month now, we are having over 20 States in our Cluster with nothing less than 30 farmers and we are still growing.
Mr. Osunkunle Abass, The National Cluster Leader while giving more reports, says it is high time to implore all stakeholders in the country that has the capacity to farm and support farmers to do the needful while he charged government at all levels as well to help make food available in abundance.
Further, Mr. Osunkunle Abass hint Mr. Speaker about the templates from the National level, which dictates that each states will have their structures and have their Governor’s to be the “GRAND PATRON” and the Deputy Governor’s, Speaker’s and Commissioners of Agric to be PATRON 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
In his response, The Speaker of Oyo State 10th Assembly “Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin” encourages and said Agric Sector is enough to generate more than enough job employment for our Youths, and as well as generating income, help to increase our GDP and help grow and develop our economy as well as addressed the insufficient and food shortage menace facing the country.
Mr. Speaker further said he and the entire members of the 10th Assembly will always support and encourage ideas, programmes and projects that can help the youths and develop our economy.
