As Nigeria celebrates her 65th Independence anniversary, I, Hon. Dr. Dawood Akanni Olalere, on behalf of the good people of Ibadan Northwest State Constituency, joined millions of Nigerians at home and abroad in marking this historic milestone in our national journey.
Our Independence remains a blessing and a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of our founding fathers who fought selflessly for the freedom we enjoy today. Their legacy imposes on us, the present generation, a duty to preserve unity, uphold justice, and work tirelessly towards building a Nigeria that delivers on the hopes of its citizens.
While we can not deny the challenges confronting our nation, we must never lose sight of the vast opportunities that abound within our borders. With transparent governance, inclusiveness, equity, and a sincere prioritization of the welfare of our people, Nigeria can rise to reclaim her rightful place as the true giant of Africa.

Our strength lies in our unity. No nation prospers in an atmosphere of division, mistrust, and rancour. I therefore urge all leaders—political, religious, and traditional—to continue promoting peace and harmony while ensuring that policies and programs are people-centered, particularly in tackling poverty, creating jobs, and empowering our vibrant youth.

Independence Day is not only a time of celebration but also a call to action. We must all commit ourselves, regardless of tribe, religion, or political leaning, to the task of nation-building. Together, with renewed patriotism and sincerity of purpose, we can overcome our challenges and chart a path to enduring progress and prosperity.

On this special occasion, I pray for continuous peace, stability, and development across our dear nation. May Nigeria’s future be brighter, and may the sacrifices of our heroes never be in vain.
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.
Hon. Dr. Dawood Akanni Olalere
Member, Oyo State House of Assembly
