The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed heavy sanctions on Kano Pillars Football Club following the violent conduct of their fans during a recent league fixture.
According to an official NPFL statement, the disciplinary measures come after Pillars supporters invaded the pitch, attacking match officials, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) officials, and players — an incident that drew widespread condemnation across the football community.
As part of the punishment, Kano Pillars have been fined ₦9.5 million, docked three points and three goals, and ordered to play their next ten home matches away from home — a sanction expected to last until March 9, 2026.
The league body emphasized that such behavior undermines the spirit of sportsmanship and will not be tolerated, reiterating its commitment to ensuring safety, discipline, and fair play across all NPFL venues.
This latest sanction serves as a stern warning to clubs and supporters alike about the consequences of crowd violence and misconduct within the league.
BREAKDOWN:
₦1 million fine for failure to provide adequate security.
₦1 million fine for throwing dangerous objects toward match officials and players.
₦1 million fine for failure to control supporters.
₦1 million fine for conduct bringing the game to disrepute.
₦2 million fine for assaulting Shooting Stars players and match officials.
₦2 million as compensatory damages for the treatment of victims.

Indefinite closure of Sani Abacha Stadium, with an order for the club to play its home matches in Katsina for at least ten games or until the NPFL is satisfied that adequate security measures are in place.
A directive for the club to identify and prosecute those involved in the invasion, and to submit a new matchday security and crowd control plan within seven working days.
Kano Pillars have 48 hours to either accept the sanctions or elect to appear before an NPFL disciplinary panel. The notice warned that any frivolous appeal may attract additional sanctions.
