The Honourable Member representing Ibadan North-West State Constituency, Aare Hon. (Dr.) Dawood Akanni Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen, has returned to his roots with a powerful message of hope and determination for the younger generation.
Hon. Olalere visited Chief Agbaje Memorial Primary School, Ayeye, Ibadan, his alma mater, where his academic journey began, as part of the “Catch Them Young Initiative”—a programme designed to inspire and motivate pupils in public primary schools.
Arriving as early as 7:45 a.m., the lawmaker joined the pupils during morning assembly, using the moment to emphasize the value of punctuality, discipline and making good use of every learning opportunity. In a symbolic gesture, he stood once again as a pupil in the same school where his dreams were first nurtured.

Speaking to the children, the medical laboratory expert turned lawmaker stressed the importance of education in nation-building and talent development. He noted that many successful Nigerians are products of public schools, adding that focus, dedication and discipline remain the keys to achieving greatness.
Sharing his personal story, Hon. Olalere revealed that he sponsored himself through secondary and tertiary education after attending Chief Agbaje Memorial Primary School. He urged the pupils never to allow their parents’ economic background limit their aspirations.

“I didn’t become who I am by magic. I started exactly like you here. All my life, I attended public schools, but I remained focused and dedicated to my future. Today, I hold a degree in Medical Laboratory Science from the University College Hospital in affiliation with the University of Ibadan, a Master’s degree from Ambrose Alli University, an honorary doctorate in Public Health, I own D-Al-Ameen Diagnostic Hospital, and I now represent you at the Oyo State House of Assembly. You can achieve even more,” he said.
In his remarks, the Education Secretary of Ibadan North-West Local Government Area, Hon. Ayoade David, described the pupils as the leaders of tomorrow and urged them to guard their dreams with passion and commitment.

Hon. Olalere also expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, DSc, GSSRS, Executive Governor of Oyo State, for his visionary leadership and sustained investment in educational development across the state. He equally commended the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, for his guidance, mentorship and exemplary leadership.
He concluded by thanking the management and pupils of Chief Agbaje Memorial Primary School, the people of Ibadan North-West, and the good people of Oyo State for their continued support.
