
The Oyo State College of Health Sciences and Technology (OYSCOHEST), Eleyele, Ibadan, on Thursday, 29 January 2026, held its 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students of the College at the College hall.
In her opening remarks, the College Registrar Mrs Oladupe Ayoola welcomed everyone to the ceremony and congratulated the Matriculants, urging them to always observe the rules and regulations of the College and be focused academically.
The Provost of the College, Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo, in her address charged the matriculants to uphold discipline, integrity, and academic excellence as they begin their training in health-related professions.
She also warned against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and other forms of misconduct, stressing the College’s zero-tolerance policy.

She congratulated the matriculants for securing admission into the highly competitive courses of the institution and urged them to justify the opportunity through commitment and responsible conduct.
The Provost disclosed that a total of 1,029 students were matriculated into 23 courses, the highest intake in the College’s almost 93-year history since its establishment on 1st April, 1933.


She also announced that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially recognized the College as a corps-producing institution, enabling its HND graduates to participate in the scheme from this year.
She reaffirmed the College’s reputation for producing skilled and ethical health professionals trained in line with national and international standards, with emphasis on practical and community-oriented healthcare delivery.

The Provost commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, for his sustained support for education and healthcare, and congratulated the government and people of Oyo State on the 50th anniversary of the state’s creation.

She also appreciated the Commissioner for Health, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola and the College Governing Council, led by Right Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan for their support.
She concluded by urging the students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies as future healthcare professionals.
The ceremony also featured an address by the Chairman of the College Governing Council, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan (Akoro), who admonished the matriculants to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to professionalism and academic excellence, as he reaffirmed the Governing Council’s commitment to the institution’s growth.
The Chairman also commended the leadership of the Provost, the Management and staff for advancing quality health education and producing competent, ethical health professionals.
He appreciated the support of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in strengthening education and the health sector, while congratulating the Government and people of Oyo State on the state’s 50th anniversary.

Thereafter, the students were formally presented to the Provost by their respective Heads of Departments. Departments to which students were matriculated into are: Alternative and Complementary Science; Social Work; Community Health; Environmental Health; Health Information Management; X-Ray Technician; Medical Laboratory Technician; Nutrition and Dietetics; Hospitality Management; Oral Health Science (Dental Surgery Technician, Dental Therapy); Mental Health and Psychiatric Rehabilitation; Pharmacy Technicians’institution’s 2025/2026 matriculation in Training; Basic Health Sciences (Health Assistant and Technician) and Medical Store Management.
The matriculating students subsequently took the Matriculation oath, administered by the Provost, thereby formally admitting them into the College.
One of the students, Miss Opeyemi Abayomi, thanked God for being among the matriculants, stressing that many who applied for admission were not accepted.
