LG Polls: Irepo Councilor-elect, SASAY thanks electorates, extols Gov. Makinde, Barr. Lawal’s sterling leadership
Following the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the just concluded Oyo State Local Government election, the newly elected councilor of Ward 5 in Irepo local government, Alhaji (Hon.) Saliu Sarafadeen Ayinde, popularly known as SASAY Kishi Cubana, has extended his heartfelt appreciations to party members and other well wishers who trooped out in their large number to cast their votes for him.
Addressing journalists shortly after results announcement on Sunday, the councilor-elect equally appreciated His Excellency, Seyi Makinde for his exemplary leadership and commitment in ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
He noted that the election was the most free in the state’s history of local government elections and that it was peaceful, fair, and credible.
According to him, there was no record of pocket of violence anywhere. In my Polling Unit where I voted, I was the first to do that and there were many APC members who queued behind me, and they voted when it got to their turn.
SASAY said: “I will like to appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership style and what he has been able to achieve in the state in the last few years. We all know if past administrations did what he has done within the few years he assumed office, Oyo State, by now, would have been like Abuja. He has been doing well and I pray that God continues to guide him.
“I must confess that the electoral èxercise was peaceful, free, fair and credible. And I can say that it is the freest in the annals of Local government election in the state.
“So, I need to thank the good people of my local government who voted for me and our party (PDP) to win this election. They really cooperated with officials of the security agencies to ensure peace reigned. And I hope both PDP and APC will continue to maintain decorum in subsequent elections in Irepo local government.”
Governor Makinde made history by being the first governor to entrust his deputy in an acting capacity while on vacation, according to the Okanlomo of Kishi land, who also praised the Governor for picking Kisi son, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, as his deputy and improving the functionality of his office.
He said: “I want to specially thank His Excellency again for the privilege he gave to our father from this Kishi land, Barr. Bayo Lawal. Before now, I have never appreciated the position of Deputy Governor. But Governor Makinde changed people’s perception by being good to the Deputy Governor and giving him many opportunities to also thrive in his office. So, we really appreciate the Governor. “
SASAY, however, described Barr. Lawal as a learned silk who has been doing extremely well and has distinguished himself from being a regular politician.
According to him, since our father Barr. Lawal became a Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, he has been doing wonderful things in Kisiland for the purpose of humanity.
“We commend his sterling leadership and his fatherly role in harmonizing the party members in Kisiland. We are indeed lucky to have someone like him as a leader. We sincerely appreciate his developmental stride in Irepo local government. We wish him and his boss a successful tenure in office.”
