ABUJA – Prophet Sampson Amoateng, the founder and General Overseer of House of Miracles Ministries, has spoken out against the practice of forced tithing and giving in churches.
Prophet Amoateng, a religious leader and spiritual advisor, made his stance clear while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
He stated that the practice of forcing members to pay tithes and offerings has become a burden and a stumbling block for many believers, arguing that giving should be a voluntary act, done from the heart, and not a compulsory obligation.
According to him, “Giving is a spiritual practice that requires faith, trust, and obedience. It is not a burden or an obligation, but a joyful expression of our gratitude and love for God.
“Money gives you options, control, and the ability to contribute to society.
“However, I am against churches forcing people to pay tithes. I am also against pastors or churches forcing people to document their tithe cards. My money is my thank you, and it’s carnal to document tithe cards.
“Christianity is a love relationship, and giving is from the heart. Anything that is not from a man’s heart is not from God. In fact, today, people who don’t even go to church give money to people they don’t know, and that’s the way to go – not by force.”
