Why issues with electricity are multiple – Adelabu
Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has stated that the issues with the electricity value chain are simple but in multiples.
He said this while addressing newsmen, noting that the issues are made complicated by lack of sustaining liquidity and infrastructural funding as well as structural misalignment within the sector.
Adelabu said: “Liquidity, funding of investment and infrastructural improvement and lack of compliance with market rules in the sector. If we are able solve these complications, the other issues are simple to resolve.
“Electricity may look abstract to a lot of us, but it is not different from the normal economic goods and services that we consume on a daily basis, because it involves just three segment in the value chain, which is : Production, transportation and delivery.
“But does the value chain operate on a natural economic model? does it?,” he asked.
Adelabu, however stated that any goods and service supply chain that follows the natural economic model cycle of production, transportation, distribution, pricing, payment, collection, must be sustainable adding that the continuity is only guaranteed on the model upon which it is operated, which is pricing.
