In a groundbreaking achievement marking a significant leap towards optimizing the use of government assets and resources, the Oyo State Library Board has officially commenced the construction of a cutting-edge shopping complex. The foundation-laying ceremony, held on Wednesday, 28th August 2024, was dignified by the presence of Barrister Olatilewa Said Folami, Director-General of the Oyo State Investment and Public Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPA), and Hon. Yemi Taiwo, Chairman of the Oyo State Library Board, who jointly presided over the occasion. This milestone event heralds a new era of strategic resource utilization and infrastructure development in Oyo State.
The Oyo State Library Board Shopping Complex, a trailblazing collaboration between the Oyo State Government and Binatech Engineering Services Limited, is poised for completion within a six-month timeline. This visionary project seeks to revolutionize the retail and educational landscape by offering a synergistic blend of services, thereby enhancing literacy and entrepreneurship among the local populace.”
Chairman of the Oyo State Library Board, Hon. Yemi Taiwo, expressed his deepest gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership and pragmatic approach to transforming all sectors of the state. He also acknowledged the invaluable support of Barrister Folami, while commending the Oyo State Government’s unwavering commitment to fostering investment and economic growth. Hon. During the ceremony, Engineer Biodun Adeola, on behalf of Binatech Engineering Services Limited, extended his gratitude to the State Government for the opportunity to contribute to the project’s success. He assured the Chairman of Oyo State Library Board and DG Oyo State Investment and Public Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPA) that his team is fully committed to meeting the ambitious six-month deadline, and is dedicated to delivering a world-class shopping complex that showcases the best of Nigerian engineering and architecture.”.
Alalade Clement, the project architect, presented an in-depth overview of the Oyo State Library Board Shopping Complex, providing a comprehensive framework of the project’s design and functionality. He elaborated on the complex’s architectural features, highlighting its innovative blend of retail and educational spaces, and underscored its potential to serve as a vibrant hub of community activity and learning.
The ceremony was attended by the Management and Staff of the Oyo State Library Board, led by State Librarian Samuel Awotona, and Coordinating Director of OYSIPA, Mr. Makinde.
This project is expected to create hundreds of jobs and stimulate economic growth in the State.
