VIDEO: Oyo Deputy Gov, wife host Aare Musulumi Alhaji D’Damak, Aare in Council, others to Special Iftar
In the spirit and mood of the Ramadan Season, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal and his wife, Chief (Mrs) Ajibike Lawal, on Wednesday, hosted His Eminence Alh Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (De-Damak, the Aare Musulumi Of Yorubaland, Edo & Delta States who also serves as the Aare Of Ibadanland, as well as the Aare Musulumi in Council and host of others to a special Iftar.
Oyo Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Joke Sanni; Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abdul waheed Soliu Adelabu; Oyo Lawmaker, Hon. Olufunke Comforter; Chairman Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Qamorudeen Aderibigbe and Personal assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde, Alhaji Akeem Azeez were equally treated to a nice delicacy by Barr. Lawal and his wife, who had been organizing Iftar for Muslims since the beginning of the Holy Month, including politicians, various Islamic scholars, and residents of his Bashorun Oluwonla neighbourhood.
The event, which was a testament to the spirit of unity and fellowship during the Ramadan, aimed at enabling the Muslims faithful to share the joy of the Holy Month with the Deputy Governor.
Dignitaries from various walks of life graced the occasion, including the Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Abdulazeez, who delivered a special prayer and sermon on the value of feeding a soul and performing good deeds.
Abdu-Rasheed commended the deputy governor and the Aare muslulumi of Yoruba land, D-Damark for their altruistic deeds, particularly during the month of Ramadan while encouraging others to follow in their footsteps.
In addition to wishing Governor Makinde and his deputy a prosperous tenure in office, he prayed for a cordial working relationship between them to advance the state.
However, in his appreciation, the Deputy Governor who spoke through Ustaz Abdul-jeleel, his personal House imam, for more than thirty years, expressed gratitude to Allah for his favour upon his life, family and political journey so far.
He equally thanked the Aare Musulumi and the Aare in Council as well as others who attended the Iftar program.
The Aare Musulumi, Alhaji De-Damak, who thanked Barr. Lawal on behalf of all Oyo State Muslims, stated that he has genuinely demonstrated what a good Muslim should be like and that he is the most sought-after Muslim deputy governor in Oyo State history.
According to him, the Deputy Governor humbles himself before everyone. He is representing us (muslims) very well. He was indeed preserved by Allah to become the Deputy Governor for the progress of Oyo state.
De-Damak however thanked God for providing Oyo State with such a fantastic Deputy Governor and stated that no one ever imagined he would be the Governor’s preferred choice as running mate.
He said: “It is Allah who has chosen Barr. Lawal as the Deputy Governor of Oyo state. I am praying that this Iftar won’t be the end and I pray Allah will continue to elevate you.
“I need to also thank your wife, “Chief (Mrs) Ajibike Ajibola Lawal for taking good care of you and being a strong pillar of support. I pray God continue to be with everyone of us.”
