Residents of Adeoye Street, Omitowoju, Ward 8, Ibadan, have expressed renewed relief following the commissioning of a renovated motorised borehole facilitated by the member representing Ibadan North-West State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Dawood Akanni Olalere, popularly known as D-Al-Ameen.

The intervention, according to community leaders, has restored access to water for residents after the borehole remained out of service for about one year.

D-Al-Ameen, who is also the ADC candidate for the Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency, commissioned the restored facility as part of his community-focused interventions aimed at responding to identified needs within his constituency.

Speaking on behalf of the community, a community leader commended the lawmaker for responding promptly after the condition of the borehole was brought to his attention through one of his representatives.

The community leader disclosed that previous attempts to repair the facility had not produced a lasting solution, but added that D-Al-Ameen’s intervention led to the restoration of the borehole within one week.

The development has provided considerable relief to residents who rely on the facility for their daily water needs.

‘Representation Must Be About Results’

The intervention further highlights D-Al-Ameen’s campaign message that effective representation should translate into tangible benefits for the people.

According to the lawmaker, public office should not be limited to occupying a position, but should involve listening to constituents, identifying their challenges and taking practical steps to address them.

He urged residents and community stakeholders to protect and maintain the facility, stressing that the borehole belongs to the community and should be preserved for the benefit of everyone.

The restoration of the Adeoye Street borehole has consequently become another talking point among residents on the importance of responsive representation and community-level development.

As D-Al-Ameen continues his campaign for the Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituency, his supporters say the intervention reflects his emphasis on taking community concerns from complaints to concrete action.

For residents of Ibadan NorthWest/SouthWest, the message from the intervention is simple: when a community speaks, representation should listen and when it listens, action should follow.
