It was a carnival-like atmosphere yesterday at the APM Akinyele Local Government General Meeting as the party witnessed a massive influx of new members from various political parties, most notably the Accord and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The general meeting which held in Akinyele, was filled to capacity with party faithfuls, leaders, and enthusiastic supporters who came to identify with the growing force of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the constituency.
The highlight of the day was the formal reception of hundreds of decampees who dumped their former parties to pitch tent with APM, citing the party’s people-oriented ideology and its promising future in Oyo State.
In attendance was the Director General, APEX Campaign Council for Lagelu Local Government Mogaji (Hon) Olajide Olatoye Big Daddy Sugar, who was specially invited to the meeting. Speaking on his presence, the DG noted that Akinyele and Lagelu are under the same Federal Constituency, and as such, unity and collaboration between the two local governments is key to victory. “I was invited and on ground as the DG Apex Campaign Council for Lagelu. You know we are under the same Federal Constituency with Akinyele. What I saw yesterday is a clear statement that APM is the party to beat. The massive defection from Accord and APC shows that the people have decided. We are building a strong, united front for victory come 2027,” the DG stated.
He commended the leadership of APM in Akinyele Local Government for their organizational prowess and for keeping the party united and attractive to new members.
The meeting ended with cheers and solidarity songs as new members were assured of equal opportunities in the party.
