Hon. Adeshina Adewale (Excel), the NDC candidate for the Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, yesterday, October 13, 2026, paid a visit to Modina Mosque in Ibadan South East Local Government Area. It was his first such visit since what his campaign describes as an assassination attempt against him. The visit was a moment of thanksgiving and spiritual reflection, and it drew the attention of worshippers, community leaders and well-wishers who came to welcome him.
During the visit, Hon. Excel called on Sheikh Sani Awallu and paid his respects at the burial ground, where he prayed for the departed souls of the community. The chief imams, who had gathered together for the occasion, laid hands on him in a special session of prayers.
They asked Almighty Allah to protect him from every evil, to grant him long life, good health and wisdom, and to crown his political journey with success. The atmosphere was one of warmth, brotherhood and gratitude, with those present describing the gathering as a reminder of the strong bond between the people and those who seek to serve them.
In keeping with his reputation for supporting community and faith-based causes, Hon. Excel also made a donation towards the ongoing mosque project. The donation was meant to support the community’s efforts to complete the house of worship so that the faithful can have a conducive place to perform their daily prayers. Those present described the gesture as thoughtful and timely, and they thanked him for his continued support for the welfare and development of the community.
The visit came shortly after the emergence of Hon. Excel as the NDC candidate for the Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency. Speaking at the mosque, he expressed his deep gratitude to God for sparing his life and to the clerics and the wider Muslim community for their prayers and goodwill.
“I thank Almighty Allah for sparing my life, and I am deeply grateful to the chief imams and the Muslim community for their prayers and goodwill,” he said. “I will continue to serve the people of this constituency with honesty and commitment, and I will never take their support for granted.”
The gathering ended with a final round of prayers for Hon. Excel, the people of Ibadan South East, and the peace, unity and progress of Oyo State and Nigeria. Many of those present thanked him for his visit and encouraged him to remain steadfast and focused on the task of serving the people.
