_….as Arapaja Questions Abandonment of Political Agreements, Backs Tinubu, APC Candidates_
Politicians have been sternly warned against breaching campaign pledges, as divine consequences await those who fail to honour agreements made while seeking or holding public office.
This warning was delivered by Islamic cleric, Fadilat Sheikh Sahni Imayale while delivering a lecture titled “Adehun” (Promise) at the Hijrah 1448/2026 celebration organized by the League of Imams, Felele-Olorunsogo, Molete, Ibadan.
Speaking at the event held at the residence of Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja in Felele, Ibadan, Sheikh Imayale emphasized that Almighty Allah strongly disapproves of unfulfilled pledges, adding that every leader will account for their actions before God.
”A promise made becomes a debt until it is fulfilled. If you fail to fulfill it, it becomes a heavy burden on the Day of Reckoning.
To gain paradise, you must honour your word. Broken promises have caused immense pain to many. For you to live a blessed and happy life, you must be faithful to your commitments.” Sheikh Imayale stated.
The cleric also cautioned politicians against belittling their supporters, urging them to always reward those who stood by them during difficult times.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Host and Baba Adinni of the Felele-Olorunsogo Molete Muslim Community, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, expressed gratitude to the religious leaders for their steadfast support throughout his political journey.
He noted that the lecture directly reflected the current political landscape in Oyo State, where certain political leaders are notorious for abandoning commitments made to allies, voters, and the general public.
”There are leaders who claim to be blind to loyalty. When it is time to fulfill agreements, they begin to make excuses.
“We have a leader who claimed he chose competence over loyalty in selecting his successor. Does that imply there was no competent Muslim among those who supported him in the PDP at the time?”
This is deeply concerning because that same leader reached an agreement in the presence of both Christian and Islamic leaders while seeking their endorsement for a second term in 2023. Yet, he breached that political agreement by selecting a Christian candidate as his successor.”
Arapaja highlighted political icons such as the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Bola Ige, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, and Chief Lam Adesina, as well as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as figures respected for appreciating loyalty because they believes loyalty is reciprocal.
He subsequently rallied support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Engr. Remi Oseni, Hon. Ibrahim Iyiola, and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event was attended by prominent political and religious figures, including:

Hon. Ibrahim Iyiola “Dudu Alubarika” (APC Candidate, Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency)
