PDP candidates Olunloyo, Aloma end years of hardship as Farm Settlement Road to Dijo Village graded, Akeetan Baale Borehole restored
Residents of Oyo Federal Constituency were thrown into jubilation at the weekend following the intervention of two leading candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in critical community infrastructure projects across the constituency.
The Oyo Central Senatorial Candidate, Engr. Ayobami Akinyode Olunloyo, and the Oyo Federal Constituency House of Representatives Candidate, Hon. Afolabi Idris, popularly known as Aloma, facilitated the grading of the Farm Settlement road to Dijo Village in Ward Three, Afijio Local Government Area, and the repair of the moribund borehole facility at Akesan Baale in Ward One, Oyo West Local Government Area.
The Farm Settlement road to Dijo Village, which had become impassable over the years, had subjected residents to untold hardship, hindering the movement of agricultural produce to markets and cutting off several adjoining hamlets. With the grading now completed, accessibility has been restored, bringing relief to residents and boosting socio-economic activities in the area.
Speaking on behalf of residents in the area, a community leader from the Farm Settlement area disclosed that several letters had been written to the local government over the past five years appealing for the road to be graded, but without any response. He said the intervention by Engr. Olunloyo and Hon. Idris had brought hope to the community after years of neglect.
The residents of the Farm Settlement area, in appreciation, pledged to vote en masse for all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming general elections.
In the same vein, residents of Akeetan Baale expressed gratitude to the PDP candidates for remembering the community and responding to their appeal for potable water. According to them, the restoration of the borehole facility, which had been abandoned for months, has ended the prolonged water scarcity in the area and restored normalcy to households.
They commended Engr. Ayobami Akinyode Olunloyo and Hon. Afolabi Idris Aloma for their compassion and commitment to grassroots development, noting that their gesture demonstrated genuine leadership.
The people of Akeetan Baale also pledged to canvas and vote for the PDP in the 2027 general elections, describing the candidates as leaders who listen to the yearnings of the people.
In their prayers, residents of both communities prayed for the success of Engr. Olunloyo and Hon. Idris at the polls, and for the victory of all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2027 general elections. They prayed that God would grant the PDP resounding victory and empower its candidates to deliver more dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
The projects form part of the ongoing community development initiatives embarked upon by both candidates to alleviate the plight of rural dwellers and bridge the infrastructure gap across Oyo Federal Constituency and Oyo Central Senatorial District.
